Ara has 4 full-time lawyers forming its core team as well as 4 interpreters and 1 full-time filing assistant. Our lawyers have worked for several years in the UN field offices of New Delhi, Cairo, Beijing, Dubai and Ulan Bator as well as in Refugee and Migrant Justice, London. They bring with them a wealth of experience in international refugee law and an in-depth understanding of Indian laws. One of our colleagues has worked with the Ministry of Women and Child Development as a legal consultant and assisted in drafting the new laws introduced by the government to address sexual violence.

We also have a group of mentors which includes a leading Indian legal scholar, the founder of Oxford University’s Refugee Studies Centre, a legal adviser to UNHCR, and founders of long-standing NGOs focused on forced migration issues.
